How To Escape The Grip Of A Social Phobia

hypnotherapy for social phobia cdSocial phobia is a common anxiety disorder in which a person is afraid of being in a social setting. A person with social phobia suffers from debilitating anxiety that impacts their personal and daily life.

People with social phobia are extremely self-conscious and worried about what others may say or think about them. They are often afraid of speaking up, out of fear that they will be judged or criticized. People with social phobia tend to be very hard on themselves or have low self-esteem. They are constantly worried about being noticed by others and find social situations to be very stressful.

A person with social anxiety may seem "shy," but in the case of a phobia, this is taken to extremes. For example, if you have social phobia, you might be reluctant to make an important phone call because you're nervous about talking on the phone. You make the call, but you're so anxious that you "freeze up" or forget what you wanted to say. Although it happens to everyone once in awhile, for someone with social phobia it may happen every single time, to the point where they find it near impossible to make any phone calls.

Perhaps it is the night before a big meeting at work and you find yourself panicking. You dread the thought of being in front of a room with your boss and all your co-workers watching as you present a project or idea. You can't help but feel extremely self-conscious and embarrassed. Even after the meeting, you can't stop overanalyzing everything you said and did. You worry that you humiliated yourself in front of your colleagues by stammering or saying something wrong.

Or perhaps you want to go to parties and make friends, but you avoid social gatherings because you're nervous about meeting new people. You find the crowds daunting and the thought of meeting someone new scares you. You worry about saying the right thing, or that you'll get rejected. You might end up staying at home a lot because you're too worried about going out. These are only some examples of the way social phobias can affect our lives.

Social phobias are irrational fears that can prevent you from achieving your career goals or fully enjoying your life. But even people who realize their fears are irrational may not know how to rid themselves of their fears. People with social phobia often want to socialize and meet new people, but are just too afraid to try. Despite their conscious desires and best efforts, they cannot completely control their phobia because all phobias are rooted at the unconscious level of the mind. Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the most effective phobia treatments because they work at this unconscious level.

It can be difficult for people with social phobia to get help because they are reluctant to see a therapist or discuss their condition. This is another reason why hypnotherapy programs work well for them. The programs foster a peaceful and confidence-boosting frame of mind in a private setting, without being intimidating or overwhelming.

The first stage in a good phobia program is relaxation therapy. Hypnosis is a powerful tool for relieving your stress and tension. Once you are anxiety free, hypnotherapy techniques will help shape positive thoughts in your unconscious mind and eliminate your phobia. NLP techniques are used to extinguish your fears by directly targeting the thought process that causes a phobia.

In traditional hypnosis, specifically worded post-hypnotic suggestions are used to treat each unique phobia. Unfortunately, people tend to reject being merely told what to do or think, so traditional hypnotherapy does not work as well as it could. A deeply rooted phobia calls for a combination of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP.

Ericksonian hypnotherapy techniques are more effective than traditional hypnosis because they use suggestions that are not apparent to the conscious mind, instead of direct suggestions. These ideas are hidden in conversation, in the form of stories and metaphors, to persuade the unconscious mind to adopt a new line of thought. For this reason, Ericksonian hypnotherapy is far more sophisticated than conventional hypnosis and much more difficult for the unconscious mind to resist.

A single program that uses Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can treat social phobia and any other phobia, in any individual. This is because multiple techniques are combined to maximize their effectiveness. People are often amazed at the seemingly miraculous results they can achieve through hypnosis. Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP are excellent tools to help you build confidence and overcome social anxiety so you can live life to the fullest.
