Act Early to Prevent Hair Loss

By: Tim Vincent

Clients could wait far too long before seeking help with their hair loss situation. By the time the decision is made a lot of treatments will only be able to make a minor difference and then just hold the problem. Acting in a dynamic way to prevent hair loss from the beginning can help minimize the problems later on.

Hair loss is mostly caused by genetics with genes being sent down the line from parents and grand parents. The gene pattern inherited is changed into biochemical changes in the scalp. These changes make it less ideal for hair follicles to continue acting normally. The end result is a gradual loss of hair as hair follicles fade away and get so little that they can no longer produce good hair.

The idea towards early hair loss treatments is that interventions are used to prevent the biochemical changes taking place in the scalp. This will then stop additional miniaturization of hair follicles and also reawaken those ones that have not quite reached a lasting terminal decline. There are number of treatments that exploit this way of coping with hair loss. The methods used are to either stop scalp cells producing a hormone called DHT or to increase the blood flow to hair follicles. There are some methods that claim to do both. As a result it is usually a good reason to use more than one treatment at the same time.

DHT is the reduced name for a chemical called Dihydrotestosterone. It is made when male hormones called androgens respond with receptors in the hair follicle cells. The hair follicles are very sensitive to DHT and therefore it causes them to die away. Preventing DHT formation is consequently a good strategy in preventing hair follicles withering away and therefore maintaining hair production.

Increasing the blood supply to the hair follicles makes sure that they have a good supply of oxygen and nutrients. This therefore promotes their health. There is also the possibility that the increased blood flow carries away some of the DHT before it grows up to significant levels in the hair follicles. These are some of the treatments that can be used in early action to prevent hair loss.

Laser Luce LDS 100 is a laser hair restoration method used in hair clinics. It means sitting under a dome shaped hood for about 30 minutes each time. The laser light which is in the infra red frequency area causes greater metabolic activity in scalp cells and promotes the blood capillary network supplying the hair follicles with oxygen and nutrients. Trials have shown that patients having this treatment over a 12 month period both get new hair and maintain the levels of hair thickness and production after this time.

Propecia is DHT blocking treatment. You have to take tablets on a regular basis. Excellent results have been gained in both the maintaining of hair count and thickness as well as the capability to regrow hair. After only 3 months the patient would see that the treatment has begun to take effect.

Revivogen is a mixture of natural herbs. Its main materials are substances which stop the production of DHT. It has to be massaged into the scalp. Other natural ingredients contained in Revivogen promote hair regrowth. Good reports have been made on the ability of this treatment to regrow hair.

The laser comb is a smaller kind of the larger hood apparatus used in clinics. You can use this device at home. There is an initial moderately high cost for the apparatus but you can get a lot of years of use after this. This treatment acts by activating the hair follicles to regrow hair and by making greater the scalp blood supply. A high proportion of people have obtained thicker hair after using it over a six month period.

All you have to do now is to choose the method you want to use. You can then maintain as much of your hair as possible and also recoup some of the lost hair. Beginning your treatment early will reduce the chance of having to deal with larger balding areas later on.
