Hair transplants are the most popular form of male cosmetic . It is the only way to completely improve the growth of hair in areas of the head that are thinning or bald. It is therefore no wonder that men are lining up to get their transplant treatment. It is however, important to understand that getting a perfect result may not be entirely possible. Techniques and technology in this area have been quickly getting better over the last 50 years. Only now are the treatments able to get the cosmetic appearance of the transplants just like natural hair. This needs the skills of the surgeon as well as the technology used. Modern micro graft techniques can accomplish a result that seems very natural indeed. In actuality it should be virtually impossible to tell that a man has had a transplant at all, especially if the hair surgeon does a good job. The end result can entirely change the appearance of the person involved and added to this are the psychological improvements which can come with the greater confidence of looking great. People going in for this type of hair treatment therefore have very great expectations for the end result of hair surgery. The problem here is that there are limitations to the actual treatment. To begin with, men only have a certain number of hair follicles that can be used. They have to be the ones that are found in the back and sides of the scalp. Just look at men with a lot of baldness. They always have a horse shoe shaped remnant of hair at the back and sides. It is just the hair follicles in these regions that are genetically programmed to last a life time. Ultimately this means that that this is the amount of hair that can be successfully transplanted. It is easy to see that there will never be enough to give the thick full hair that the person once had as a teenager. In fact the best you could achieve is either thick hair in a small number of regions or a general thickening of thinning hair over the head. Hair transplants are not suitable for everyone. They are not done on teenagers even though some may already be showing a fair degree of balding. The reason for this is that in the beginning stages it is not possible to identify the actual pattern of hair loss and the degree to which it will happen. This makes it very hard for a surgeon to decide treatments. Even when the pattern is visible there can still be difficulties. For example a person with thinning hair could have hair transplants to make it look thicker. This will look good for a time but as more of the natural hair is lost through time the thinness will graduallyreappear. This means that more transplants will be needed to retain the original thickness. The person should be aware of this and plan for it. As can be seen men going to have hair transplant surgery can have expectations that are not realistic. This means that in the end they will be disappointed with the results of their treatment. It is important to understand that there are only a certain number of hair follicles that can be transplanted and that they can only be redistributed over the scalp in a limited number of ways. If you keep this in mind then it is likely that you will be happy with what you get in the end.
