The reason why you need to come up with a proper training program is because this is the key to succeeding in bodybuilding. Without a well formulated and planned training program you will not be able to achieve muscle hypertrophy. If you are taking a proper diet suitable for a bodybuilder you will still not be able to achieve muscle hypertrophy if you are not on a sound training program. A sound training program should include warm up session, stretching session and weight training session. Before you undertake any weight training you need to perform warm up exercises. This should be the first form of exercise in your training program. When warming up you need to undertake activities such as; jogging, walking the treadmill, skipping ropes, cycling, walking, and attending aerobic classes. When you perform warm up exercises you will be able to warm up your body and in the process your muscles becomes more responsive to the weight training. When glass is being shaped it behaves the same way as the muscles do when they are growing. A glass blower needs to heat the glass first before he starts to shape it. If the glass cools it becomes very frigid and will break if he tries to shape it. Therefore the same principle applies to the muscles, if you create tension on them when they are not warm, they will break since they are frigid. The other reason why you need to perform warm up exercises is to be able to increase the flexibility of your joints. The number one cause of gym injuries when training using weights is as a result of having joints which are not flexible. When your joints are not flexible you are prone to get injuries especially when applying different motions during lifting weights. Therefore by warming up prior to the weight training session you are able to increase the flexibility of the joints. The next thing after performing warm up exercises is to undertake stretching exercises. Many people make the mistake of starting with stretching exercises before undertaking warm up exercises. When you perform stretching exercises without warming up you could also end up injuring yourself because the joints are not yet fully flexible. Stretching exercises are meant to increase your flexibility even further. After you have stretched out properly you need to lift weights. For your weight training session to yield the desired results you need to use techniques such as progressive resistance training as well as compound movements. Progressive resistance training requires you to increase the weight you are using progressively until you reach the maximum overload. This technique will help you to reach muscle overload so that you can be able to achieve muscle hypertrophy. Compound movements on the other hand allow you train many muscle groups at the same time and this will enable you to spend less time in the gym as would be the case if you were performing isolation movements. You should ensure that your training session is intense for you to attain muscle hypertrophy.
