Asthma is a chronic condition affecting the respiratory system. During an asthma attack, airways, which carry oxygen to and out of the lungs, tend to get narrower and hence decrease the flow of oxygen coming to the lungs. The airways also become inflamed and lined up with mucus. These symptoms might occur many times in a day or week, or a lot less often. The severity of the attacks also differs.
Various triggers may cause asthma attacks and the breathlessness that is corollary. Asthma can also cause loss of consciousness and chest pain. It is a very grave disease which can sometimes be deadly: while asthma affects 300 million people around the world, asthma attacks kill an estimated 250,000 folks on a yearly basis.
People who have asthma also suffer from its side effects in their everyday life. Sleeplessness is a common experience that can cause daytime fatigue, and can have a negative impact on one’s professional and personal life. The World Health Organization even acknowledges the fact that “reduced activity levels” and “school and work absenteeism” are very often associated with asthma. Sports will often be more difficult for asthmatic people, which may for instance be a social isolation factor for a child.
If it is impossible to definitively cure asthma, there are different ways to relieve and prevent the symptoms, making it possible for everybody that has asthma to stay in shape, exercise and lead a normal life. With the appropriate treatments, there is no reason why somebody that has asthma should not be able to enjoy an active life.
Many factors are able to trigger an asthma attack. Some are very basic things like the temperature and humidity of the air. However, the most common ones are natural indoor and outdoor allergens, such as pollen, spores, house dust mites or cockroaches as well as pollution from cars, tobacco smoke or chemical compounds, like the ones found in perfumes and perfumed products. Medications like penicillin or aspirin as well as certain foods, like peanuts or milk, in the case of food allergies, are also able to trigger asthma. Asthma attack might also occur after exercising.
Your psychological state could also be a contributing factor in causing an asthmatic attack. Emotional stress, anxiety and tension can all trigger it. Several people experiencing an asthmatic attack also make their condition worse by falling prey to state of panic, an absolutely normal response to the dreadful experience they have to endure.
In order to better control asthmatic attacks, all of these triggers should be avoided as much as possible. Allergies also play a significant role in the triggering of asthma attacks and allergy treatment can be taken as a way to prevent them. There are however many types of asthma treatment. In the short-term, asthma attack treatment will provide relief in case of an asthmatic attack. Asthma attack treatment will quickly provide asthma relief, but people suffering from moderate or severe asthma must use a long-term asthma treatment.
There are various types of bronchial asthma treatment available out there, but not all of them will work out for you. Bronchial asthma treatment as well as allergy treatment also have many side effects when taken regularly and for an extended period of time, particularly drugs containing corticosteroids or Beta2-adrenergic receptor agonists, with the latter having cardiac side effects and increasing the risk of respiratory death. Such issues may explain why approximately half of the people with asthma use some kind of alternative treatment, such as natural asthma treatment.
Even though almost no evidence shows the efficiency of therapies such as air ionizers or chiropractic, other types of natural asthma treatments such as homeopathy, yoga practices and hypnosis have shown significant results as asthma treatment. Hypnotherapy, just like yoga or meditation, but in a much easier and faster fashion, provides asthma relief because it can help handle the psychological aspect of asthma thanks to relaxation. Through hypnotherapy you will be much more relaxed, which can help reduce the occurrences of asthmatic attacks. It will also allow you to better handle the fear and panic during an attack, hence greatly reducing the symptoms. Most asthmatics are aware when an attack is imminent, and specific hypnotic techniques exist which enable the asthmatic person to stop an impending attack.
Asthma is a serious respiratory condition, which can be very disabling and sometimes even deadly. Medication can help you with the physical symptoms and might provide prompt relief in case of an attack. However these drugs present many negative side effects, especially when taken too often. NLP and hypnotherapy can in many cases reduce your need for drugs. It is also an effective asthma treatment and asthma attack treatment and may help you prevent the occurrences of asthmatic symptoms.
