Following the South Beach diet is among the most widely used methods of losing weight today. It is focused around diet and lifestyle changes that help you achieve realistic weight loss goals. There are three stages in the South Beach program. During stage one, dieters avoid all carbs except for vegetables. Although many foods are not allowed, dieters still have a wide choice of foods they can consume. The first stage is the most difficult stage, but also the quickest since it only lasts for fourteen days. Dieters are expected to lose between 8 to 12 pounds during this period.
